Summary
DescriptionRumah Adat Bubungan Tinggi Banjarmasin.jpg |
English: During the Banjar Kingdom, the Bubungan House was intended for nobles during the sultanate, but it could also be built by wealthy merchant groups, this happened after the Banjar kingdom fell in 1860. The Bubungan Tinggi house is estimated to have been built in 1867 AD, by H. Muhammad Arif. He was known as a wealthy merchant of his time. During the struggle for independence, this high ridge house was used by freedom fighters or TKR as a headquarters and training ground. Not long after the same struggle ended, this Bubungan Tinggi House began to be abandoned by its inhabitants
The Bubungan Tinggi house is made of two types of wood that are water and heat resistant, namely galam wood and iron wood or ironwood. Galam wood is used as a foundation that is planted in water and is resistant to weathering. Ironwood is used as a material for walls, floors, and roofs. If in general a stilt house has a house column for a place to play or store livestock, under the Bubungan Tinggi house is used to tether a boat or store unused beams. |
