- Craignethan Castle, south west of Hamilton and 9km north west of Lanark off the A72 (From Hamilton take McKindless bus group no 31 (Lanark) to Crossford Main Street (near Carluke) Tillietudlem Hotel (23 mins), then walk 15 mins to Craignethan Castle), ☏ +44 1555 860364. Ten miles of woodland walks. The ruins of Cadzow Castle, built by Sir James Hamilton of Finnart around 1530, can be viewed but not entered.
