  • Hamilton Mausoleum. Built between 1842 and 1858 and formerly the resting place of the Dukes of Hamilton. Tours W, Sa, Su 2pm - book at Low Parks Museum. £1.15 adult, £0.70 child.
  • Craignethan Castle, south west of Hamilton and 9km north west of Lanark off the A72 (From Hamilton take McKindless bus group no 31 (Lanark) to Crossford Main Street (near Carluke) Tillietudlem Hotel (23 mins), then walk 15 mins to Craignethan Castle), +44 1555 860364. Apr-Sep every day 9:30am-5:30pm, Oct every day 9:30am-4:30pm, Nov-Mar Sa-Su 9:30am-4:30pm. Castle built by Sir James Hamilton of Finnart in the 1530s. Adult £3.70, Child £1.85, Concession £3.00.

Main house: M-Th 10am-4:30pm. Restored hunting lodge built in the 1730s for the Dukes of Hamilton houses exhibitions gallery, displays, gift shop and cafe. Ten miles of woodland walks. The ruins of Cadzow Castle, built by Sir James Hamilton of Finnart around 1530, can be viewed but not entered.
