Itinerary is in North Idaho.

Understand

[edit]

Burke is a ghost town 5 miles due north on Burke road leaving Wallace, the road goes through many smaller towns that would barely be seen as towns today. They are all clearly marked along the road. Some of the towns are located adjacent to each other with only the road dividing the town lines. Along the way you will find many abandoned mines and buildings that were once filled with people and silver (hence the name the Silver Valley). As you're going through the history of Burke you will be taken back at the stubbornness, dedication, and will it took living in such a tightly packed valley! Disaster after disaster plagued the valley, but the people endured (until the silver dried up). Today Burke road takes you through a collection of ghost towns, and we all know that ghost towns have the richest history. Unfortunately much of the town sites have been cleaned up, so many of the buildings and houses are no longer standing. This tour is Created to take you back to a time when Burke and its surrounding towns were at their height in success...and disasters.
