[edit]- 1 Ariano Irpino The most populous mountain town in Campania, it is renowned for its ancient majolica. In the Middle Ages the city was the summer capital of Norman Kingdom of Sicily, and there King Roger II promulgated the Assizes of Ariano and coined the ducat. Today the town houses seven museums, three libraries and a lot of restaurants which provide a lovely display of local culture and cuisine.
- 2 Calitri Surrounded by Ofanto Valley, it is a lively artisan town.
- 3 Sant'Angelo Dei Lombardi Devastated by the 1980 Irpinia earthquake, it is today a small, modern village.
- 4 Trevico At an elevation of 1094 m, it is therefore nicknamed "the roof of Irpinia". Its staple produce are potatoes, dry-cured hams and chestnuts.
