This is an archive of discussions on my talk page from 2008.

Hello Jtesla16! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

Nice photos! And I hope you enjoyed your time in Chicago :) --(WT-en) Peter Talk 15:42, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

Merging[edit]

No need to delete the 2nd page, you can just make it a redirect to the 1st by deleting all content (after merging) and typing "#REDIRECT [[targetpagename]]". You can make sure no pages link there by clicking the "What links here" link in the left sidebar, and then changing all the wrong links to the appropriate page. Hope that helps! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 23:33, 31 August 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the kind words, Jessie. I think Wikivoyage tends towards a simpler aesthetic than Wikipedia, so we've stuck to the simple barnstar as our only real "award" or recognition. I've got a couple from some of my biggest projects here ;) --(WT-en) Peter Talk 08:38, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

Florida[edit]

Please visit Project:Florida_Expedition before doing any further work on the Florida page. (WT-en) gamweb 01:24, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

Hi - No, you did nothing wrong. We are just trying to coordinate our efforts in Florida and reach consensus on listings. Recently, someone with a different opinion started deleting things... (WT-en) gamweb 18:34, 4 September 2008 (EDT)

Small Article Template[edit]

I reverted your edit of Ormond Beach and noted your reference to the Project:Small_city_article_template. I believe you need to re-read this section of the template: If you think that your village or town or whatever needs more sections than are noted here, check the big city article template first for clues. Feel free to copy in some or none of those sections. (WT-en) gamweb 06:05, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

Milton[edit]

I don't know why you added Milton to the Florida Expedition page. Items on that page are for links originating from the Florida state page. (WT-en) gamweb 06:15, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

Airports and National Parks[edit]

I object most strongly that you deleted the airports and national parks from the Florida state page without consensus from other contributors. I consider your actions to be vandalism at this time. Cease and desist! (WT-en) gamweb 08:02, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

Re: Florida Disagreement[edit]

Hi, Jtesla. I agree gamweb is probably adding too much info to the Lakeland "Eat" section, although I don't think that's the case in Ormond Beach's "Cope" section. There, it's important for you to realize that the small city template is related to the amount of information available, not the size of the city. Any of the standard city headings are fair game for any city article, small or big. The "small city" template is just to make sure even the smallest city articles have the essentials.

As for the other articles, I don't see a huge problem developing yet -- in the case of Lakeland, Gamweb added a bunch of restaurants, and Cjensen trimmed it; that's the way things are supposed to work here. It only becomes a problem if one or more people start edit warring, continually reverting to their preferred version.

Thanks for your concern. -- (WT-en) LtPowers 17:17, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

In relation to this discussion, I Personally think (and there are certainly many possible legitimate exceptions from this) you (meaning one in this context) should mainly add listings, if you have at least a couple of words to add - other than a name and a telephone number - in order for the listing to be helpful. Juuuuust my two cents. (WT-en) Sertmann 20:40, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
