Comments[edit]

Hello, Lonelywriters! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

We have an introductory page for business owners--please take a minute to read it before going on with your edits. What's most important when adding to the listings are: be fair and don't tout. Your recent addition of a large number of http://www.szcityguide.com/ links to the Shenzhen‎, Hong Kong, and Golf in China articles, as well as the comments of another person on Talk:Zhuhai, looks very much like Search Engine promotion and an advertisement for your publications. Our external links policy is to incorporate primary links only into the text itself. We do not link to other guidebooks, but prefer the key information contained on another website to be listed in Wikivoyage listings. If you do publish aguidebook about Shenzhen, it is most appropriately placed in the Understand section, not in a separate section that does not follow our templates. Wikivoyage also strives to avoid being an "advertising brochure" for any business, city, or service--so I have rolled back all your edits to the previous version. Unfortunately it is too hard to untangle what little good information you have added from the large amount of touting for your puiblications. I would recommend you read the Project:Don't tout article before your future edits--and we would be happy to see you back editing here but also respecting our guidelines ;-) - (WT-en) Huttite 03:27, 8 February 2009 (EST)

Hi Huttite,

Sorry about that, it is true that we've taken this opportunity to promote our website site a "little". We've just put back the "Maps" link and added, as you told us, our publication under the "Understand" section. Do let us know if that complies with your rules.

Cheers. Lonely Writers Publishing.

Hi. The information you have added is probably still a link to a guide, which is against the Project:External links policy. --(WT-en) inas 20:42, 29 June 2009 (EDT)
This is quite obviously a link to a guidebook, which is clearly against the Project:External links policy. Please explain why you consider your link not to be a link to a guidebook. (WT-en) ClausHansen 01:37, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
Hi ClausHansen. The information we provide does not exist in Shenzhen. Expatriates only have this link to get more information about the city. The link was up on this page for about a year. But after making a change a couple of days ago, the link was brought down. Please, we would really appreciate if you could leave it for expatriates living in Shenzhen. --(WT-en) Lonelywriters 20:42, 02 July 2009 (EDT)
No, and the reasoning has been explained to you a couple times already. We're more than happy for you to work on making our Shenzen article as awesome as you think this other guide is.... but we are a travel guide, and that only.... we don't link to other travel guides – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 20:06, 1 July 2009 (EDT)
