I would like to try and be creative with the template. I think we've discussed this kind of solution (describing a bunch of destinations in a region article) before, but there's no special template for such an "overview" article, as far as I know. I could imagine it would look more attractive and be more useful to describe the towns and destinations including their listings, so to have no separate sleep and eat listings sections. I mean: if you're in Wanica, you're not going to Albina just to have lunch. If we would make it a bit more into a collection of destination descriptions, with some more general introductions and a map and such, it would be more like other travel guides. I think it might be more natural in this case. Shall we give it a try with the North-East and then see if it's better and if others would find it acceptable? [edit]

Here's my suggestion for a new template for Suriname's regions. It is basically the city template with Learn, Work and price level headings removed. Feel free to comment on, edit or ditch it. ϒpsilon (talk) 12:27, 20 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I like the basic idea but I think in the case of Suriname it's just far too detailed :-) Most towns are rather undeveloped villages, for which we now have perhaps one listing and a sight. I don't think we should split those up in sections for eat and drink and see etc.: it will make the region article as a whole very fragmented, especially since normal mediawiki headings are huge. I think we should just put the info together and only split it up when we have at least 3 eat/sleep listings and 2 or 3 attractions. Also, natural parks and jungle lodges will need another way of describing. I would think along the lines of Title&intro, perhaps an understand section which also lists the districts, get in (probably without subheadings), city1, city2, park, park, go next. If we have more info, we can add extra headings such as connect, stay safe or healthy, but we should only have them if there's something to say, I think. I suggest first to add all the information we have in these temporary region articles and subsequently discuss the form of a suitable template. --WiDi (talk) 13:49, 20 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
That's probably the best approach. ϒpsilon (talk) 14:57, 20 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
