The west also sometimes referred to as South Western Bogota (due to the fact that the northwest is the locality of Suba) is a huge region of Bogota, comprising the localities of Engativa, Fontibon, and Kennedy.

[edit]Western Bogota is comprised of a mix of middle-working class neighborhoods, and high end residential districts. Some renowned places to visit in western are the Maloka interactive sciences museum located in the locality of Engativa (Close to the airport), which is a huge interactive museum housing various exhibits on the distinct planets, outer-space, the importance of water and energy, as well as on the impact of climate change.
Another famous destination is the El Dorado International airport itself, which the busiest airport by cargo in Latin America and one of the most visited in the World. It has the third largest landing path of any airport in the World, and is one of the largest airports on Earth. It is the main hub airport for Avianca.
Other key sights include the famed Tunal Metropolitan park, annual home of the 40 meter tall Bogota Christmas tree, the park houses two hockey rings, four Olympic pools, a library, a gym, tennis, basketball, and soccer courts, as well as closed coliseum and various bike lanes and paths. Another renowned tourist attraction in western Bogota, is the Monumento de las Banderas, a huge memorial that honors each of the 35 countries in the Americas, with flags and engraving from each country.
There are many hotels from global chains such as Marriott and Hilton, conveniently located close to the El Dorado International airport, in Engativa. If you do have some extra time in Bogota, take some time to visit the Gran Estacion Shopping mall located in this area, as well as strolling through the neighborhood. A planned urbanization, with wide avenues, extensive parks, large shopping malls, and vast financial centers.

It is a huge interactive museum with various exhibits year around on innovative technologies, robots, AI, outer-space and the distinct planets, the importance of water and clean energy, our own Planet and the various ecosystems that comprise it, the dinosaurs, as well as a temporary exhibit on the history of cinema and photography. It is a great place to visit with children. Tickets for adults are five dollars each, or 28 thousand Colombian pesos, and tickets are free for students of the National University of Colombia, and citizens with a membership to the museum, or a Sisben card. - 2 Parque Metropolitano El Tintal, Cl. 6d # 86 13. The Parque Metropolitana El Tintal, is a Metropolitan park located in the locality of Kennedy, in Western Bogota. It is a huge public park with various sports complexes including tennis, soccer, basketball, track and field, an out door gym, a bicycle path, and various walk paths, as well as a public library and a cultural. The Metropolitan park is divided into four sections or areas, the sports areas and complexes, the bicycle and walk paths, the Manuel Zapata Olivella public library, and the cultural center.
- 3 Monumento a las Banderas. The Monumento de las Banderas is a huge memorial honoring the 35 countries of the Americas, with a flag and engravings of each country. As well as of over 120 statues located in between the flags. The Monument was inaugurated in 1948, in the newly inaugurated Avenida de las Americas, located in Western Bogota. It quickly became a simple of unity, of all the American countries, and symbol of pride for inhabitants of the capital district, especially those in the locality of Kennedy. The monument was built in proportions that had not been built in the city before, and became a mark of western Bogota's rapid expansion and modernity. It is a great place to visit, although it can be a little far from most major touristic sites located in downtown Bogota. But if you do come near the El Dorado International airport, or near to the more Southern part of Bogota, this makes for a great sightseeing experience.

Located in the South-western locality of Kennedy. With a great variety of over 357 different stores, you can find store-chains of any type in the shopping mall, from hyper-markets such as Exito, to tech companies such as Alkosto, Wom, or Claro, to a fashion shops, and a cinema with 15 rooms. The mall was inaugurated in 2018 and is quite modern and innovative in its design. Also worth checking out if you find yourself near the Eden shopping mall is the Eden villa (the neighborhood surrounding the mall) this is a planned residential district, with wide avenues and streets, tall buildings, parks, bicycle paths, and civic centers. Definitely worth seeing if you find yourself in the mall area.
