[edit]Calafat is a major crossing point between Romania and Bulgaria. The New Europe Bridge opened in 2013 between Calafat and Vidin (in Bulgaria) across the Danube River.

[edit]There are four slow (the 107 km trip takes three - three and half hours) Personal type trains daily from Craiova.
By bus
[edit]There are frequent buses from Craiova; travel time is around two hours. There is a bus that goes to Calafat from Vidin and Craiova.
By ferry
[edit]The ferry to/from Vidin used to run several times per day.
By car
[edit]Via E85, from Bucharest, Pitești, Craiova.
Via DN55A, from Bucharest, Alexandria, Turnu Măgurele, Corabia.
