Kunhegyes is a town of 7,500 people (2018), and district in Lake Tisza.

The town can be reached by road on the main road 34 leading to Fegyvernek (main road 4) - Tiszafüred. It can also be reached from Abádszalók on a side road and on the inferior road connecting Tiszafüred with Tiszaszőlős - Tiszaszentimre - Tomajmonostora with Kunhegyes.

Public road transport is provided by Volánbusz buses. In addition to the surrounding settlements, Eger, Szolnok, Jászberény, Debrecen, Békéscsaba, Gyöngyös, Tiszafüred and Miskolc can be reached directly.

It can be reached by train on the Kál-Kápolna – Kisújszállás railway line.

Reformed church

In 1 Kunhegyes.:

  • The second largest Reformed church in the country: it was built between 1827 and 1948 in the Classicist style, according to the plans of József Hild. The two-tower, three-nave hall church has a capacity of approx. 4000 people.

Abádszalók, Town Hall
  • 2 Abádszalók (next to Lake Tisza, train station 5 km way, trains to Heves, Kisújszállás). Exaltation of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic church, Tiszaabád Protestant church (1787-1789). Tiszaszalók's reformed church (1811-1822), Tiszaszalók's Roman Catholic Church (1744, baroque), Doll Museum (360 dolls wear robe of the Carpathian Basin plus 226 dolls from 65 other countries) and village houses, and a huge ancient defense system remains; Sand Martin Colony, 'kosboros' meadow of Aranyos, Mill inn (Mikszath út, here functioned 1912-1913, the Abádszalók's steamsaw and steam mill). Apartment building (Mikszath u. 23 1880s classic style. Apartment building (Mikszath 26, built in the second half of the 19th century, classicist style). "Attila" Fountain.
Fegyvernek
  • 3 Fegyvernek (Kisújszállás 16 km, take a bus). Puszta Tower (Gothic church remains, 1480); Roman Catholic Church (romantic style, 1862-63); Reformed Church (1928); Szapárfalvi new Catholic church (1992); St. John of Nepomuk Statue (Baroque, 1775); Judge Castle; Szapáry Schwarz Castle, Calvary Hill.
  • 4 Nagykörű. World-famous for its cherry. Sights: Country House, Baranyó Sándor painter's Studio, Elijah Stone, Cherub statues, St. John of Nepomuk statue. Tourinform (Jun-Aug: M-F 08:00-16:00, Sa Su 08:00-13:00, Május 1. út 1)
