Lüdenscheid is in South Westphalia.

Understand

[edit]

Lüdenscheid is a city of 70 000 and seat of the Märkischer Kreis district. The city is home to numerous small manufacturing companies and light industry, including a model and toy car company. Surrounded by the wooded green hills and valleys it's a great day or weekend get away for the nearby larger cities.

  • 2 Bahnhof Lüdenscheid-Brügge. Small stop in the Volme Valley. By car

[edit]

If you are travelling by car, Lüdenscheid can be reached by using the motorway (Autobahn) A 45.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Autobahn A45 is blocked between exits 13 Lüdenscheid-Nord and 14 Lüdenscheid due to a bridge being replaced. This is scheduled to be finished in 2027, but who really trusts those estimates. All autobahn traffic is getting rerouted through the city, which causes heavy congestion in busy times, plan for delays.

Get around

[edit]

Local and regional buses run to surrounding towns and neighbouring cities, including Iserlohn (Bus S1) and Werdohl (Bus S2), where connections to other trains are available. Most services are run by Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft MVG under the Westfalentarif tariffs, state-wide day passes like SchönerTagTicketNRW and the nationwide DeutschlandTicket are also accepted. Drivers sell tickets for cash or with card payment, although cash remains the safest bet still.
