Saint-Ubalde is a rural locality located at the southeastern limit of the Laurentian Shield, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the regional county municipality of Portneuf, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in Quebec. This municipality has a diversity of natural resources, hilly landscapes and numerous lakes in the northern part of the territory.

The parish of Saint-Ubalde was founded in 1860 thanks to the immigration of pioneers from Neuville. This toponymic designation evokes one of the first settlers: Ubald Gingras. The church was erected in 1878. The current town hall was housed in the former convent of the Servant Sisters of Saint-Coeur-de-Marie (1885). This religious heritage has left a 19th-century style architecture.

Today its diversified economy is based on recreational and tourism activities (vacationing, camping, hunting and fishing, mountain biking, snowmobiles), agriculture (potatoes, dairy cows), public services (primary and secondary schools), certain businesses. premises and forestry. Saint-Ubalde is particularly known in Canada for its industrial cultivation of potatoes.

This locality has a territory of 147 km2 (57 sq mi) where 1412 inhabitants reside. In summer, the local population doubles with the arrival of seasonal residents and camping visitors. The Lac Blanc campsite attracts tens of thousands of visitors each summer. The village of Saint-Ubalde is crossed by road 363.

The White (Rivière Blanche) River with its 29 km (18 mi) course has its source at Lac Blanc in Saint-Ubalde. Lac Blanc is renowned for its vacation and recreational tourism activities, including camping and water sports. The upper course of the Blanche river passes northeast of the village of Saint-Ubalde.
