Name change to Mbombela[edit]

Back in 2009, Nelspruit was renamed Mbombela, and this was further established in 2014 by the Pretoria High Court. And now, with news sources using the city's official name more and more, Mbombela has become the common name to be used instead of the former name, Nelspruit. Today, I closed a requested move discussion on en Wikipedia at Talk:Mbombela#Requested move 18 July 2018 and renamed the article to Mbombela. I then proceeded to update Wikidata and categories on Wikipedia and Commons. All that seems to remain is this Wikivoyage page, so if there are no objections, I shall rename this page to keep it in line with other recent page title changes. Your input is welcome!  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  21:49, 12 August 2018 (UTC) (For my own reference:) Wikivoyage:How to rename a page[reply]

Just to confirm: Mbombela is now the name that's most used in English? If so, yes, change the article's name with a redirect from Nelspruit. But counterexamples include the Swaziland, Nagorno-Karabakh and Bangalore articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:00, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Mbombela is now the name that's commonly used in English. Your examples above result in en:w:Swaziland, en:w:Republic of Artsakh and en:w:Bangalore. Since I do not inhabit Wikivoyage, I would feel more comfortable if a Wikivoyage denizen/editor would move the pages, Nagorno-Karabakh and Nelspruit, if you deem it necessary. I have added the official name to the lead of this page. Thank you for your response!  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  01:09, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You shouldn't feel reticent to move this article if Mbombela is now the most common name in English. That's the test - see Wikivoyage:Naming conventions. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:32, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I made the changes. I hope it was worth it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:41, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was worth it, absolutely. And I like this project! Looks like lots of work has gone into improving Wikivoyage.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  12:50, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. And I'm glad you like this project. At some point, all mentions of Nelspruit in other articles will have to be changed. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:11, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes done – I worked from the What links here page and then did a general search for the old name and found four or five more pages to update. Best to you!  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  23:44, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. :-) Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:03, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Pleasure! Paine
