Hi! I'm ByeByeBaby, although my legal documents call me Kevin. I'm a lifelong resident of Calgary, so I'm concentrating on improving my own backyard before I improve anybody else's. I'm also devoting some attention to North Korea, since I fairly recently returned from a week there, and it's a pretty specialized destination.

My travels have included:

Most of the surrounding region, including the Canadian Rockies, Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Penticton, Edmonton, Banff, Jasper, Drumheller, Regina, Saskatoon and even lesser sights (yes, there are lesser sights than Saskatoon).

San Francisco, Ottawa, Toronto, Seattle, Las Vegas, Quebec City, Nova Scotia, Los Angeles and Florida at various times, usually for a few days. Most recent were Washington, DC, where I spent a week in January 2005, and two (hectic) days in Toronto in March.

Switzerland for a month in August 2003, including Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Bern, Basel, Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Zermatt, Lugano and points in between, with a quick side jaunt to Lyon (which I definitely do not regret.)

China (travel to Beijing, Hong Kong, Guilin, Yangshuo, Longsheng, Shanghai) and North Korea -- a month in April/May 2005. A wonderful vacation, with every destination worthwhile -- but North Korea providing a travel experience like no other.

London -- June/July 2005. A couple of weeks mostly sticking to the tourist sites, and ending at Live 8 (well, a field away from the video monitors).

Upcoming planned:

Playa Del Carmen -- November 2005. I'm starting to look at this one, with Mayan history being my key goal (other than the wedding I'm going for, of course).

I'm typically a budget traveller; I love finding hole-in-the-wall restaurants. I've never met a museum I didn't like. I typically see cities on foot and transit; I've only rented a car once, and it was for use here in Calgary. I did some cycle touring through Switzerland, but had bike problems and wound up abandoning my bike in Neuchatel. More recently, I've been placed on peritoneal dialysis due to kidney failure, so I'm learning to travel with a few restrictions (not that those stopped me from planning a month-long jaunt through China).
