Älvsbyn is a small and cosy town beautifully situated by the Piteå river in the north of Sweden.
Overnight SJ trains between Stockholm and Luleå (with some trains continuing towards Narvik) stops here. Also, there are a few regional trains per day between Luleå and Umeå that also calls in Älvsbyn.
Älvsbyn is at the crossroads of road 374 and road 94. Both connect E4 along the coast with E45 in the inland. Road 374 leads northward from Piteå on E4, via Älvsbyn, to E45, with junction some 85 km south from Jokkmokk. Road 94 starts at Antnäs 10 km west from Luleå, and goes via Älvsbyn to a crossroads on E45 a few kilometres south from Arvidsjaur.
