Épernay is a small town in north-east France known for its Champagne production. A number of the most famous brands are produced and cellared in the miles of tunnels which exist beneath the town. Notable brands include Moët et Chandon. Champagne-related places in the town are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars".
Épernay is surrounded by a number of smaller villages including Oiry and Magenta among others.
There is no TGV service to Epernay, although plans are well underway for the TGV-Est line. It is not expected that such a line will stop in Epernay.
