Schoonhoven is a small town in the Dutch province of South Holland.

Formerly the town was famous for its silver, hence its nickname Zilverstad ("Silver City"). The town is well worth to visit because of many well preserved medieval buildings.

  • 2 Weeshuis. A former orphanage bilt in the 19th century.

  • 4 Waag (Weigh House). Built in 1617 and extended in 1758. Since 1971 it houses a restaurant.
  • 5 Nederlands Zilvermuseum (Silver Museum), Kazerneplein 4. Tu-Sa 11.00-17.00, Su 12.00-17.00. € 8.
  • 6 Edelambachtshuis (former granary). Now contains a collection of jewelry spanning a few centuries.
  • 7 Watertoren (Water tower). built in 1901, now hosts yet another zilvergalerie.
  • 8 Stadskorenpakhuis. A former 16th century granary.
  • 9 Doelenhuis. 18th century building.
  • 10 Synagoge. A former synagogue — It was built in the 19th century .
  • 11 Veerpoort. The 17th century gates.
