Meriden is a small historic village in the West Midlands, England. It is situated about half way between Birmingham and Coventry. It is said to be the centre of England, but the name of this village actually means "Merry Vale".

Get in

Car is the easiest way to reach Meriden, just off the A45 road from Birmingham or Coventry direction in about 20 minutes. It can also be reached by bus.

The village is small, you can get around by foot, bicycle or car.

See

  • 1 Medieval Village cross, Village Green. A 500 year old grade II listed artefact.
  • Church of St Lawrence, Church Lane. A 12th century church, complete with gargoyles. The graveyard is accessible to the public, Birmingham city is visible in the distance if sitting on the benches to the rear. Opposite the church there are some 16th century farm houses.

  • Heart of England Way. This popular walking route winds through the village.

There are several places to eat in Meriden. At the local Manor Hotel, The Bull's Head pub, the Strawberry Bank Hotel. All these provide food, drink and accommodation.

There is plenty to see in the nearby city of Birmingham. Solihull is the nearest town for shopping etc. Kenilworth Castle and Warwick Castle are also nearby.
