Clogherhead (Irish: Ceann Chlochair, "rocky headland") is in County Louth on the east coast of Ireland.

Get in

By car

Clogherhead can be accessed directly from Drogheda by following signposts. it is roughly 10km or a 15 minute drive from Drogheda. Access from Dublin is best using the motorway, taking the south Drogheda exits and continuing as above.

By bus

Bus Éireann 189 goes from Drogheda to Clogherhead:

Drogheda (Bus Station) → Drogheda (Hospital) → Baltray (The 19th Pub) → Termonfeckin (Northbound stop) → Clogher (Louth, Main Street) → Grangebellew (Doherty's Pub)

The following bus route provides service beyond the town, and may be useful to those who wish to explore the surrounding vicinity:

  • Bus Éireann 189 operates southwest to Termonfeckin, Baltray and Drogheda and northwest to Grangebellew, 6 times per day Monday to Friday and 4 times per day on Saturdays.

Clogherhead is a busy fishing village along the east coast and the newly developed pier is a must see especially during the summer months where diving and fshing are common activities. The old church ruins and graveyard are a must see.
