• 3 City bus (Stadtbus), Niedermarkt 15. M-Sa. The city operates four bus lines (201-204) from Monday-Saturday; the night bus (Nachtbus) offers service between Vienna's Heiligenstadt train station and Tulln on Thursday-Sunday. Summer: daily 09:00-18:00, winter: daily 10:00-17:00; guided tours daily 10:00-17:00. The monastery was founded in 1114 by Saint Leopold III, the patron saint of Vienna. Over the centuries the monastery was remodeled a number of times; the current appearance dates mostly to the Baroque period.
  The monastery houses a museum with a collection of Gothic and Baroque art, but its most prized artpiece is the triptych Verduner Altar, painted in 1181 by Nicholas of Verdun. Museum and abbey: €10 (adults), €9 (Vienna Card).  
• 2 Tutzsäule. A Gothic 'lantern of the dead', commissioned in 1381 by Michel Tutz after an outbreak of the plague. The six-sided column has reliefs depicting the Passion of Christ.

This building is devoted to the artwork of a group of self-taught artists, known collectively as Art Brut. A museum is located on the first floor, with a permanent exhibit as well as special rotating exhibits of international Art Brut artists, while a gallery and gift shop are located on the ground floor. €7 (adults), €6 (Ö1-Club), €5.50 (seniors), €5 (students/unemployed/disabled/military), €2.50 (children/youth 6-19).  
• 4 Franz Kafka Memorial (Franz Kafka-Gedenkraum), Hauptstraße 187 (Kierling), ☏ +43 1 533 8159, info@franzkafka.at. Generally Sa 11:00-15:00, and by appt. Franz Kafka died of tuberculosis in 1924 in this building, which at the time was a sanatorium. A reading room was established here, displaying some of the writer's personal effects, as well as photographs, letters, and cards; during his stay here he was visited by many friends, including fellow writers Franz Werfel and Max Brod. There is also an on-site library of his works, including translations into many other languages. Open visiting hours can vary, so it is best to check beforehand here. Free. (updated May 2016)

Part of the Vienna Woods (Wienerwald), the park's primary attraction is its mature beech and oak forests. Interspersed with the forests are agricultural areas, as well as a number of streams. • 3 Swimming. There are several places to swim in the Danube in the summer, which is safe when the river is not flooding (wait about two weeks after flooding has stopped). Good swimming skills are required as the current is quite strong. Pionierinsel is a popular place for jumping into the Danube. free. 
• 4 Strandbad Klosterneuburg. summer time 09:00-19:00. A large bathing area that is very popular with Viennese. It opened in 1903 and has large green lawns to chill out, places to play beach volleyball, and slides. 
• 5 Die Kletterei (Kletterzentrum Klosterneuburg), In der Au 1, ☏ +43 664 201 21 00, info@diekletterei.at. M-F 14:00-22:00, Sa, Su, holidays 09:00-22:00. Around 70 routes on approximately 1200m² indoors; also one wall is nicely located outdoors. Also has some boulder problems.
