By plane
- 1 Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto International Airport (AAP IATAor APT Pranoto Airport, also colloquially known as Sungai Siring Airport). This airport opened in 2018 to replace Temindung Airport which is close to the city and cannot be expanded. The airport has flights to Banjarmasin, Tarakan, and several smaller airports in Kalimantan, as well as Jakarta, Yogyakarta International Airport, Surabaya, Bali, and Makassar. It is not yet served by an international flight.
The Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman International Airport (BPN IATA) in Balikpapan is a common alternative as it has more flights. A bus from the airport directly to Samarinda costs Rp250,000.

There are many buses from Balikpapan. The journey takes 2 hours and costs Rp21,000.

- The Muster Station Cafe. Address is No 27 Jalan Pangeran Hidayatuuah. About a 5-minute walk from the Samarinda Central Plaza. Good wifi. Has a food menu.
- Barbershop Cafe. Near the junction of Jalan Mulawarman and Nahkoda streets. There is a yellow sign pointing the way. About a 3-minute walk from the Samarinda Central Plaza. A small off the main street cafe with Western-style coffee choices, plus a simple menu and wifi.
