Northern Cameroon refers to the ternary Islamic dominated regions of Cameroon.

Travel Warning WARNING: Because of the risk of attacks by the Boko Haram extremist group, both New Zealand and Canada recommend avoiding all travel to the Far North region of Cameroon, the Bakassi peninsula, and anywhere near the borders with Chad, the CAR, and Nigeria.

Be aware that Boko Haram, a Nigerian jihadist group, may operate in the north of the country. They have kidnapped Europeans in the Northern parts of the country.

Bandits/highwaymen also operate in some parts of the north.
