Dunfanaghy is a village in County Donegal.
Get in
Located on the northern coast, Dunfanaghy is reached by the N56 road from Letterkenny via Creeslough. alternatively, a more scenic, longer route can be taken through Dunlewey and Gweedore.
Get around
Local "hackney cabs" operate by call-out at reasonable fares. Otherwise, the best way to get about is by foot or car.
See
- Dunfanaghy has a central Market Square with a Market House and Quay. The ruins of Clondehorky Church are nearby.
- Visits to the Capuchian Friary in Ards Forest, Marble Hill beach, Mount Errigal and Glenveagh National Park can be easily made from Dunfanaghy village.
- Doe Castle is 10 km south off the road to Letterkenny. Grounds open daily, castle interior only in summer.

Golf
There is a golf course cloose to the village, which welcomes non-members and has a clubhouse and bar.
Museum
The old workhouse has been turned into a museum to commemorate the victims of the Great Famine (1845 to 1847).

- Arnold's Hotel. A bit rural, good location though.
- Shandon. Really nice and good value, a short drive out.
Go next
There are many nice beaches in the locality and fishing trips can be organised from nearby Portnablagh. The New Lake is a haven for seabirds and is now a Special Protection Area. Also nearby is Sessiagh Lough, a small lough with a crannóg (ancient man-made island) in the middle.
