Citrus Heights is a city of 88,000 people (2019) in the Sierra Nevada foothills in Sacramento County in California.

Climate

Citrus Heights has mild winters and dry hotter summers. The area usually has a low humidity and the average temperature throughout the year is 68 °F (20 °C), with the daily average ranging from 45°F in December and January to 76°F in July. Average daily high temperatures range from 53°F in December and January to 93°F in July. Average daily low temperatures range from 38° to 58°F. Almost no rain falls during the summer months (less than 1%), and over 80% falls between November and March.

Citrus Heights is centrally located between the region's major freeways and highways. Interstate 80 passes through the west side of the city, and Interstate 5, U.S. Highway 50 and California State Route 99 are all 3-11 miles (5-18 km) from the city. The Business 80 freeway (Capital City Freeway) begins near Citrus Heights and ends in Downtown Sacramento.

By train

Amtrak is in Roseville about 10 miles (16 km) from the city.

By plane

The Sacramento International Airport (SMF IATA) is the closest major airport to Citrus Heights is in Sacramento about a 30-45 minute drive away from the city.

Citrus Heights is serviced by the Sacramento Regional Transit District, with buses in operation around the city. The service started early in 2019.

Citrus Heights has many enjoyable parks, several of which have playgrounds for families or trails. However, there tends to sometimes be homeless people/drug users in these areas, so exercise caution if you see any suspicious activity and go somewhere else if needed.

Drink

Margaritas are available at El Tapatio's along with small bars in most restaurants in the city. There are several Starbucks and McDonald's close by that sell coffee and tea.

Roseville- About 5 minutes away on 80 East. Home to The Galleria Mall and Maidu Park.

Sacramento- 80 West. About 15 minutes away during quiet hours.

During peak hours, it can take up to an hour. Home to California State Capitol and Sutter's Fort.

Rancho Cordova- Sunrise Blvd to 50.
