  • Ovčar-Kablar gorge (Овчарско-кабларска клисура) (16 km W of town). The Ovčar-Kablar gorge is in the central part of Serbia, as part of the West Pomoravlje region. It is a dividing point between the high Šumadija region in the north and Dragačevo and Stari Vlah plateau in the south. It is one of the Serbia’s regions that have been in the focus of attention for centuries, owing to its natural values and the memorial heritage of the past. The basic natural characteristics of the gorge are the imposing mountain massifs of Ovčar and Kablar, which gave name to the gorge. The main morphological trait of the gorge are the markedly expressive curves of the Morava river course in the lower part of the valley, which distinguished scientist Jovan Cvijić described as grafted or ‘clenched ‘meanders.
  • National museum (Народни музеј), Cara Dušana 1. Tu-F 09:00-17:00, Sa Su 09:00-13:00. One of the most famous places in town
  • Nadežda Petrović gallery (Уметничка галерија Надежда Петровић), Cara Dušana 6. Tu-F 10:00-20:00, Sa Su 11:00-14:00. Founded in 1961, it is a specific and recognisable cultural institution, one of the few, and certainly the oldest outside of Belgrade, which persistently and professionally deals with contemporary (current) visual art. The gallery is named after Nadežda Petrović (1873 – 1915), the founder of Serbian modern art, but also a cultural worker (organiser of the first South Slavic exhibitions, art colonies and art associations at the very beginning of the 20th century) and a very active social and humanitarian worker.
