Rarang is a small village in Eastern Himachal Pradesh, with a population of about 800. The majority of the population are Buddhist followers.

Get in

The village can be reached from Reckong Peo, the administrative headquarters of Kinnaur district, by bus (about 25 km - three times a day). Taxi services are also available from Reckong Peo frequently as per convenience (₹500). The route is Recong Peo - Thopan - Ribba Akpa and Reckong Peo and another old HT Road being widened is Via Pangi village Thopen and to Rarang via Swaden.

  • Rarang Monastery - This monastery is a popular pilgrim spot in Rarang.
  • Tashi Choeling - Located just outside the village on the Thopan side, stands this newly built monastery. The monastery is noted for its ancient dwellings and temples which merges with the mountain from one side.
