Le Morne Brabant is a peninsula in Mauritius and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Understand

[edit]

Le Morne is a peninsula surrounded by a lagoon and featuring an impressive basalt monolith rising 556 metres (1,824 ft) into the sky. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.

Get in

[edit]

There is a car park at the bottom. Very generally, drive south from Flic en Flac. Use GPS to make your life easier.

Get around

[edit]

You can hike Le Morne either independently or with a guide. The trail to the top is 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) and takes about 3-4 hours. The hike is somewhat challenging. The top portion is steep and rocky. It's probably not safe to do the hike in the rain.
