Zap is a small town in the rolling hills of Western North Dakota. It has a population of about 290 people.

The name of the town is thought to come from Zapp, a coal mining town in Scotland.

  • By car: about 25 miles north of I-94, via State Hy. 40, then west on Hy. 200, approximately 5 miles. It is located about 15 miles south of Lake Sakakawea, the large man-made lake behind Garrison dam.
