Tutuila is the most populous island in American Samoa, and is home to its capital, Pago Pago, and principal airport.

Tutuila is a fairly small and narrow island, measuring roughly 33 km (21 mi) across and little more than 3 mi (4.8 km) from north to south at its widest point.

Understand

The island is attractive to tourists because of its beaches, coral reefs, and World War II relics. There are mountainous regions which also make hiking popular.

• 1 Pago Pago International Airport (PPG ^IATA Tafuna Airport) (approximately 16 mi (26 km) from Pago Pago). mainly flights to and from Hawaii, Manu'a and the independent country of (Western) Samoa.  

Do

• Scuba diving, snorkeling, and hiking are all popular activities.

• Mount ʻAlava peak (483 km (300 mi)) on the northern part of the island has a trail with a metal stairway from the southern end which goes right up to the peak
