Understand

[edit]

The periods of heavy rain are from November to January, while the driest months are from June to September.

Get in

[edit]

It is located 367 km from Asunción, at the intersection of Routes PY03 and PY05.

See

[edit]
  • 1 Cerro Sarambi. Cerro Sarambi is at 765 m the second highest independent mountain in Paraguay (with a prominence of more than 100 m).

Do

[edit]
  • 1 Cerro Memby (Taxi or Bus (ask at the bus station for buses to Pedro Juan Caballero)). It's a challenging climb. The middle section involves some slightly exposed scrambling/rock climbing, but a fixed rope is installed (around a block - trust the rope and the block at your own risk).
It takes about 40 min - 1 h for the first lookout, and then another 30 min to the actual summit (which is overgrown).
Cerro Memby has also the first multi-pitch rock climb of Paraguay.
