Understand

Nossa Senhora da Conceição Square, in the city center

Queimados is a former district of Nova Iguaçu (it was split from it in 1990), and now a municipality of the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro. It is crossed by the BR-116 highway, more exactly, by the stretch between Rio and São Paulo (known as Via Dutra), one of the most important of the country. The Industrial District of Queimados, on the side of the BR-116 highway, is one of the main industrial zones in the metro area of Rio de Janeiro. The municipality is also served by the Japeri railway line, which starts in the Central do Brasil station, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, and ends in the Japeri city center, having a station in Queimados, right in its downtown area.
