Southern Coast is a region of Tamil Nadu, India. It consists of Karaikal, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts.

  • 1 Avudaiyarkoil (Tirupperunturai) — famous for its ornate temple Shiva Avudaiyarkoil, it has many sculptures and inscriptions
  • 3 Kumbakonam — a city famous for its temples (there are hundreds of them)
  • 6 Rameswaram — a fine town temple and miles of the empty beach a short auto ride away
  • 7 Thanjavur — fine old architecture and exquisite handicrafts
  • 8 Thirukkarugavur — site of a beautiful and well-maintained Garbharakshambigai temple
  • 9 Thirumayam Thirumayam on Wikipedia — not so famous archaeological wonder. 7th century Vishnu temple
  • 10 Thiruvayaru — a town with several temples and the home of the great Indian composer Thyagaraja and site of the annual Thyagaraja Aradhana
