Santander is the southernmost municipality in Cebu Province, 137 km from Cebu City. It does not attract many tourists on its own merits, though there are some beach resorts. It does get quite a few travellers passing through, mostly because it has a ferry terminal that is on the main bus route between Dumaguete and Metro Cebu.
Understand
[edit]Get in
[edit]Santander is on the coastal highway that runs around Cebu Island and is therefore reachable by road from almost anywhere on the island. Common starting points for journeys to Santander are the nearby resort area of Moalboal or the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City.
There are ferries to/from Sibulan in Negros Oriental and to/from Siquijor. The Cebu-Dumaguete bus route crosses to Sibulan here, then goes on to nearby Dumaguete.
The ferry terminal is in the barangay of Bato, a bit west of the town along the highway.
Get around
[edit]For local transport, tricycles are abundant. Travellers bound for Moalboal usually use one to get from the ferry terminal to the bus station.
