Mosby Rangers Wine Trail is located about one hour west of D.C. It covers an area bounded by the Bull Run Mountains to the east, the Allegheny Mountains to the west, the Potomac River to the north and the Rappahannock River to the south. During the Civil War the area was known as “Mosby's Confederacy”, named for the famed cavalry officer Colonel John S. Mosby whose rangers fought throughout the region during the Civil War. Today, a large part of this area is designated as the “Mosby Heritage Area”.
