Boutx is a town in the Haute-Garonne region of Occitanie, France.

Understand[edit]

Boutx is a small village of 240 inhabitants situated in France, in Occitanie, in the departement of the "Haute-Garonne" in the mountains named the Pyrenees. The postcode is 31440 and the nearby village is : "Saint-Béat-Lez". The village is not high as you can think, it is in a low part of these mountains. In the past, the village was named "Bouts", it is an old gallo-roman village. The inhabitants are the "Boutxois" and the "Boutxoises".

By car[edit]

To go to Boutx, car is your only option, there aren't any airports or train stations because it is in the Pyrenees so, the village is in a mountain pass. To come to Boutx by car, take the D44 road.

To visit or get around the village in all its places, there are no buses. The only way for you to discover is by car, by bike or while walking.

In the closest village "Saint-Béat-Lez", there is the "Géry" lake, it is a lovely place with a good view, a lot of nature and trees.

Do[edit]

Boutx has a lot of visitors because of its ski resort. It is named "Le Mourtis", this ski resort is a family and friendly place, the majority are easy blue and red ski-runs. It is small and there is not much people in this ski resort because it is not high: only 1860 meters above sea level so, you will find only families or friend groups. Moreover, "Le Mourtis" is not expensive, the ski pass is around €230 for 2 adults and 2 children. In Boutx, if you aren't here to ski, you can do cycling in the "Monté" pass or some hiking and mountain trails on the peaks of "Escales", "Escalettes" and "Piéjau".

Buy[edit]

To purchase your mountain stuff, there are 5 equipment rental shops of skis, snowboards, sledges and snowshoes. These shops are named "L'Isba", "l'Ousset Sport", "Le Yéti", "Le Tuc de L'Etang" and the "Pyrenees ski". "L'Ousset Sport" is the closest one of "Le Mourtis". To buy your food you have one grocery shop which is the "Vival".

Eat[edit]

To eat after a good day of skiing, you will have the choice. In the snack-bars named "Chez Marie", "Le Louzat", L'Igloo" and "La Grange" which are at the foot of the ski-runs. Go here if you want some waffles, crepes and hot chocolates in the end of the afternoon at 18p.m. For information, "L'Igloo" is a pub open from 8a.m to 10p.m. The restaurant "La Grange" is also a gourmet restaurant the evening and only by reservation.

Sleep[edit]

To sleep, you have the choice in Boutx, you can rent some traditional chalets made in old wood from a private landlord or not. For example, you have the chalet of the "Bazet" where can sleep 5 to 7 people. You will find also éin this tiny village some hostels like the one named "Les oursons", which has free WI-fi, full-board available and 8 rooms from 2 ti 6 people. It is situated at 160 meters of the ski resort of Boutx.

Connect[edit]

As of Aug 2023, Boutx has 4G from all French carriers, with a patchy signal on the approach roads. 5G has not yet reached town.
