Budakeling or Budha Keling is a village area in East Bali, east of Besakih and north of Candidasa. The village is located at the epicentre of the East Bali.

Budakeling

Budakeling is a small village south of Mount Agung, about 10 minutes to the west of Tirta Gangga, almost half way to Amed, the village is the center point of tourist destination point of East Bali. Budakeling is widely used though to refer to the Balinese Hindu community with Buddhist syncretism. In addition, there is a Muslim community, which can be said to be a multi-cultural and multi-religious village.

In the village there are several silver and gold craftsmen, then blacksmiths who make necessities from the Griya or the priest's house complex. This activity has been around since the village was founded in the 14th century.

In addition to multi-cultural and religious activities, there are beautiful natural scenery in the form of terraced rice fields and hills like Ubud. However, with tourism facilities and accommodations that are not as complete as in Ubud.

Get in[edit]

Taxis are hard to find in this area and most trips tend to be by private car or motorbike. Consider booking accommodation with free airport pick-up accommodation as this is the easiest way to reach Budakeling.

Get around[edit]

It is recommended to cycle in the west because in the east there are many trucks, then be careful of dogs, stay alert but don't be afraid. However, it is better to go around the village on foot, because some places are not accessible by bicycle.

  • 1 Bukit Komala Sunrise Point. Check out the sunrise from hill, north side of the village. At night, you can see the view of the town of Amlapura and the sea activities from the Lombok Strait from the top of the hill
  • 2 Budakeling Terraced rice fields. View of the terraced rice fields, with the best point on the north side of the village
  • 3 Pande Mas. The activity of making traditional rings and necklaces with Balinese characteristics in the Pande Mas Community
  • 4 Pande Besi. Traditional Balinese blacksmith community
  • 5 Traditional Public Bathing. Public bathing with some good view
  • 6 Pura Dalem Budakeling (Pura Dalem Desa Pakraman Budakeling). At certain times from March to April you can see a wide variety of cultures staged at the temple.
  • 7 Pura Dalem Saren (Pura Dalem Desa Pakraman Saren). Once every two years can see the activities of the fire war on the south side of the village.
  • 8 Men Tanjung Art. Stone art with Balinese style.
  • 9 Taksu Valley (Lembah Taksu), Nangka, Buana Giri. beautiful view of Amlapura town from Mount Agung.
  • 10 Samsara Living Museum (Museum Samsara), Jl. Kuncaragiri, Jungutan. 9AM-4PM. A place to study and see the life and activities of Balinese people in the past. $8.
