Appearance
West Busan consists of the districts of Sasang-gu, Gangseo-gu and Saha-gu in the city of Busan. This western part of the city is full of industrial parks leading to docks and the airport. There are however some nature areas preserved. It contains the Western district of Sasang, known for its large intercity bus station as well as Gimhae town.

[edit]- 1 Sasang Bus Station (서부시외버스터미널) has many intercity connections throughout South Korea.
- Line 1 runs through the Saha-gu to Dadaepo beach. Busan Metro Line 2 runs through the Sasang area, also connecting to the Gimhae Light Rail that connects Busan to Gimhae International Airport and Gimhae town.
- This is the closest part of Busan to 2 Gimhae International Airport. (김해국제공항)
- If coming via the high-speed KTX train from Seoul, then Gupo KTX station is much closer to this area than Busan Station is. Use the Metro line 3 to get there. Non-KTX riders can use Sasang Train Station. It is close to the Metro line 2 and Gimhae Light Rail.

[edit]- 1 Nakdong River Estuary Migratory Bird Sanctuary (낙동강하구에코센터) (Line 1 - Hadan Station). 08:00 - 20:00. The spot where the Nakdong River meets the South Sea has been declared a natural monument since 1966. Where the large mouth of the river forms, there are sand dunes and deltas and many small islands (including Ilung-do). It is now a bird sanctuary for migrating species that visit between October and March. There are over 150 different species (including many rare birds like white-naped cranes, black-faced spoonbills, and white-tailed eagles) that stop here on their migratory routes. It's difficult to reach by land, so it's best to take a boat from Myeongji-dong harbor. The best times to see the birds is early in the day, before it gets too hot.

- 2 Dadaepo Beach (다대포해수욕장), 14 Moleundae 1-gil, Saha-gu (Line 1, Dadaepo Beach station is right in front of the beach). This beach might be the least famous beach in Busan. It is right next to Nakdong river, so it has very soft sand and the water is very shallow. There are small park, fountains, locker room, and small benches for watching the sunset. Among the beaches of Busan, this beach is the only one that faces the west, making this place perfect for sunset. It also has a mudflat next to the beach, and you can see small wildlife such as crabs and cranes from the elevated path.

- 3 Janglim Harbor (장림포구) (Bus 338 from Sasang or Hadan stations). Janglim Harbor (inlet) is surrounded by many colorful buildings and boats, a popular spot for strolling or taking pictures. Free.

- 4 Gamcheon Culture Village (감천문화마을), 203 Gamcheon-ro, Saha-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Toseong Station, Exit 6; take Bus Saha 1-1, Seogu 2, or Seogu 2-2 to Gamcheon Elementary School stop). Open all year, but most shops and galleries are open from 09:00 to 18:00. A village with colorful houses built in a stair-step fashion on the foothills of a coastal mountain. It is known for its narrow alleys, art installations, and panoramic views. Free to enter, but some experiences or workshops may have a fee.

- 5 Eulsukdo Ecological Park (을숙도 생태공원), 1240 Nakdongnam-ro, Saha-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Hadan Station, Exit 3; take Bus 3, 58, 58-1, or 58-2). A large park on an island at the mouth of the Nakdong River. It is a major migratory bird habitat and features walking trails, bike paths, and a bird-watching center. Free.

- 6 Molundae (몰운대), 15 Moleundae 1-gil, Saha-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Dadaepo Beach Station, Exit 4; walk toward Dadaepo Beach and follow the signs for Molundae). A scenic rocky headland with walking trails and a dense forest. It's a great spot for a hike with views of the sea, Dadaepo Beach, and nearby islands. Free.

- 7 Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams (다대포 꿈의 낙조분수), 14 Moleundae 1-gil, Saha-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Dadaepo Beach Station, Exit 2). Show times vary by season. Check the official website for schedules.. A spectacular musical fountain show with lights and water jets. It's a popular attraction, especially in the evening, as it's located right on Dadaepo Beach. Free.

- 8 Amisan Observatory (아미산 전망대), 729-1 Dadae-dong, Saha-gu, Busan (take Bus 3 or 96 from Dadaepo Beach Station; get off at Amisan Observatory stop). An observatory offering a panoramic view of the Nakdong River Estuary, the sand dunes, and Dadaepo Beach. It's an excellent spot for photographers. Free.

- 9 Gukje Market (국제시장), 25 Junggu-ro, Jung-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Jagalchi Station, Exit 7; walk straight for about 5 minutes). One of Busan's largest traditional markets, selling everything from clothes and household goods to street food. It's a bustling place with a rich history. Free.

- 10 Bosu-dong Book Street (보수동 책방골목), 8-1 Bosu-dong 1-ga, Jung-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Jagalchi Station, Exit 3; walk toward the market and find the alley). A historic alley filled with secondhand bookstores, some of which have been around for generations. It’s a nostalgic and peaceful place for book lovers. Free to walk through.

- 11 Jagalchi Market (자갈치 시장), 52 Jagalchi-ro, Jung-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Jagalchi Station, Exit 10; the market is right in front of the station exit). Korea's largest seafood market. You can see vendors selling fresh fish and seafood, and many restaurants on the upper floors will cook your selections on the spot. Free to enter.

- 12 Yongdusan Park (용두산 공원), 37-55 Yongdusan-gil, Jung-gu, Busan (Busan Metro Line 1, Nampo Station, Exit 7; take the escalator to the park entrance). A city park with the iconic Busan Tower at its center. It offers great views of the city and the harbor and features statues, flower beds, and a museum. Park is free.

- 13 Huinsnyeoul Culture Village (흰여울 문화마을), 1044-67 Huinnyeoul-gil, Yeongdo-gu, Busan (take Bus 6, 7, 71, or 508 from Busan Station or Nampo Station. Get off at Huinsnyeoul Cultural Village stop). A village built along a cliff overlooking the sea. It's known for its scenic coastal path, art galleries, and cafes. It was also a filming location for a famous Korean movie. Free.

Do
[edit]- Swim at Dadaepo Beach. If it is not summer, walking along the coast and watching the mudflats and sunset is also fantastic. [edit]There are a few bars to be found around the Sasang bus station, however the region is not regarded as a place for going out.

- 10 Sasang Karaoke Town (사상 노래타운), 22, Gwangjang-ro 21beon-gil, Sasang-gu (A cluster of large entertainment venues near the center of the Sasang commercial district.). 19:00-05:00. A series of large, multi-room karaoke complexes (noraebang) that require the purchase of alcohol and food along with the room rental fee. This venue type is intended for group entertainment and late-night socializing. Room rates vary / Alcohol packages required.
