Caballococha is in the Peruvian Amazon.

Caballococha is a village in the Peruvian Amazon. Many tour operators don't include it into their tours so it is quite untouched. People are friendly and welcoming to foreigners.

Get in[edit]

It can easily be reached with a boat from Leticia. Make sure that you get a stamp in you passport when you go there, as you cross the Colombian-Peruvian border. If you go with an organized trip, they do usually take care of this

Get around[edit]

The best way to get around a motorbike-taxis. Otherwise it is also possible to walk because the village is quite small.

There is a local furniture manufacturer which can be visited.

Every Sunday there are community festivals called Pollada. The aim of these festivals is to collect money for community purposes. They usually start around midday with and last until after midnight. Foreigners are welcome to visit these festivals.

There is a restaurant which is called Cashatambo which offers delicious Peruvian food for small prices.

There are some low-priced hotels in town, most of them are close to the river.
