Cajabamba [1] is a city in the department of Cajamarca.

There are frequent buses from Cajamarca & Huamachuco, both of which are best accessed from Trujillo. There are flights from Lima [2][dead link] to Trujillo, Cajamarca & Chiclayo. Lider has flights from Trujillo to Chagual, near Huamachuco.

The waterfalls of cochecorral
  • Quengococha Lagoon: Surrounded by various mountains: De los Pozos, El Espejo, El Envigado, De las Cuevas, El Corazón and El Colorado. It has an "S" shape, with a maximum depth of 15 meters. The water has an impressive blue-green color. At a height of 3,660 m asl and it takes 75 minutes to get there by car or 4 hours walking.
  • Cochecorral waterfalls: Known as Masmacocha (which in Quechua means "water stands"); It has a drop of more than 200 meters and more than 1,000 steps in calcareous rocks. It is accessed by walking for approximately 90 minutes.
