Curitibanos is in the Serrana region of Santa Catarina.

The municipality is a major agricultural producer, with emphasis on the production of cereals such as soybeans and corn, fruit growing, especially apples, persimmons and peaches. Also noteworthy is the production of garlic, which has already given it the title of "national capital of garlic"
