The Golden Domes at the Maharishi University of Management

Fairfield is the county seat of Jefferson County in Southeast Iowa. It is a small town of about 10,000 people in the Heartland of America. The town of Mount Pleasant is 22 miles to the east and Ottumwa is 25 miles to the west.

  • Jefferson County Park - great trails, summer & winter for x-country skiing

  • The Art Walk. Takes place on the square every first Friday of the month.
  • FairFest. Three days of jazz, blues, country music live on the big stage, food, drinks by local vendors. Last weekend in June. Music venues in the convention center, on the big stage in front of the convention center, local coffee shops & restaurants.

art shows, theater, dance, and everything else that's going on here as well as around the state.

  • Fairfield has more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, so be ready to see more Thai and Indian restaurants than your Iowan local diners.
  • The Hy-Vee Deli is so so. Try their Jello-Macaroni Salad.

Drink

  • 5 or 6 good coffee shops, be sure to check out Cafe Paradiso on the Square for the freshly roasted coffee. Plus they have live music and you can draw on the tables! They now serve wine and for events, beer.
  • Revelations cafe is another good place to stop by, with tasty Mocha Java Milkshakes and the best brick oven pizza around. Not to mention the thousands of books available for your perusal.
  • Other coffee shops include 2nd Street Cafe, with great lattes and an owner with character! Also Everybodies Whole

Foods has a thriving coffee shop that serves expresso and freshly made juice combos.
