Summary
DescriptionMoshra Gardens Rock Formations at Okeho.jpg |
English: Moshra Gardens
This artistic arrangement of rocks upon each other is one of the numerous natural formations of igneous rocks at Moshra gardens located in Okeho, Oyo State, Nigeria. The scenic outcrops were sculpted by the weathering forces of nature into rock masses that seem stacked artistically upon each other. One of the rock formations is a massive rock tilting at a precarious angle and kept from rolling down by a very small rock. The garden is rich in wildlife with a high prevalence of rock loving birds such as thrushes. Bats also roosts between two massive rocks leaning on each other. At night, the garden comes alive with calls of Rock Hyraxes under an amazingly clear sky glistening with starlight. The garden is an attraction site that has pulled both local and international tourist interests. The garden boasts of good accommodation for tourists with an adequate supply of amenities. Also, there are numerous hangout spots and a football pitch for social activities. The rocks were previously utilized spiritually as a praying ground but since its establishment as a tourist destination site, Moshra gardens has contributed to the economic development of Okeho town. It has provided sustainable source of income and revenue to the local community through job provisions and sale of locally made materials as souvenirs. |
