Ikeda Onsen

[edit]

Ikeda Onsen is a carbonated spring with a high amount of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). As such, it is said to be good for the skin. Unlike some other hot springs where you cannot necessarily feel any affects, your skin will feel noticeably more slippery-smooth while sitting in this hot spring.

  • Ikeda Onsen Honkan (池田温泉本館). 10:00-22:00. The original Ikeda Onsen, open exclusively for day visitors. It has indoor baths, a small sauna, and nice outdoor onsen. Some of the outdoor baths are under a roof, but hats are provided for use in the open outdoor onsen if it rains.
  • Ikeda Onsen Shinkan (池田温泉新館). 10:00-22:00. A newer and larger onsen than the honkan that mainly serves day visitors but also has overnight accommodations.
