Jansenville is a small Karoo town established in 1855 and named after Jan Willem Janssens, Governor of the Cape Colony in 1803. It is situated on the banks of the Sundays River and is one of the biggest Mohair producing regions in the world.
Jansenville is 167km north west of Port Elizabeth on the R75. It is 84km south of Graaff-Reinet.
- Jansenville Fort. It was erected by the British in 1901 during the Anglo-Boer War but saw no action.
