Kosofe's local administrative district is located in the province of Lagos in southwestern Nigeria and is headquartered in the city of Ojota. Kosofe LGA consists of Ikosiisheri and Agboyiketu LCDA and borders LGA's Ikeja, Ikorodu, Somolu and parts of Ogun State. The cities, villages and counties that make up Kosofe LGA include Ikosi, Ojota, Oworonshoki, Gbagada, Ajao Estate and Ogudu.

The estimated population of Kosofe LGA in 2006 was 665,000, and the region is made up of various ethnic groups. Yoruba is widely spoken in the region, but Islamic and Christian religions are also widely spoken in the region. Popular festivals in Kosofe LGA include the Ogun and Ignuco festivals, and the famous traditional rulers of the region are Ogudu's Ologdu and Oworonshoki's Oba.

The area is also home to many industries, banks, hotels, and many private and public institutions.
