Mile 12 is one of the 35 towns in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria. Due to its location as the gateway to Lagos state, Mile 12 houses people from the northern and the eastern parts of the country who engage in commercial activities. The population of the settlement according to the 2006 national population census was 682,772.

Mile 12 occupies the largest market in Lagos state, where perishable goods are sold in wholesales and retail prices depending on your desired quantity.

By bus

You can get in by bus to Mile 12 from most parks in Lagos. The closest place to get a bus to Mile 12 however is from Ketu. You can also take an Uber to Mile 12 from most parts of Lagos but it's actually expensive.

Get around

You can get around the town by bus and minibus known as 'Korope'. Due to the ban on bike (okada), you shouldn't take them even if you see them.

Mile 12 is famous for its central market. It is known majorly for its high sales of pepper.

There are several restaurants in Mile 12, although most of them are local restaurants and you should be careful when buying food from them because of food poisoning.

  • The Menu Restaurant and Bar, 13 Barbington St, +234 803 488 3672. The restaurant is famous for its sales of local Nigerian dishes like amala and eba. You can also get rice, beans, spaghetti and the likes here too.
  • Mesloye Morufat, 468 Ikorodu Road, +234 816 025 9912. This is a local restaurants and they also sell drinks too.
  • Mama Ibeji Food Canteen, Under Bridge, 10 Ilaje St. If you are a fan of African dishes or you are planning on trying one out, then you can get amala and ewedu from this restaurant.

Like most places in Nigeria, you would probably need to get your drinks at a restaurant, hotel or bar. There are several beer parlours in the streets of Mile 12.
