Misato (美郷町) is a town in Akita prefecture.

There are three towns with the same name in Japan: the other two are in Shimane and Miyazaki. In addition, some other municipalities are named Misato with other kanjis (三郷, 美里, 三里).

Misato is east of Yokote and south of Daisen. It is bordered on the east by Iwate.

  • 1 Misato Lavendar Fields (美郷町ラベンダー園). A field of 20,000 lavendar stocks blooming, including the Misato Sekka, a local variety of white lavendar, that bloom from mid-June to early July.

  • Takeuchi Festival (竹うち), 六郷カマクラ畑, +81 187 84-0110. Feb 15 20:00-21:00. A part of the weeklong "Rokugo no Kamakura" festival, this evening features people hitting each other in the head with bamboo poles. Participants are given helmets for safety, though people have sustained injuries in the past. This very interesting festival is not known for being particularly safe.
