[edit]- 1 Gongola River, Nafada, Gombe State. Gongola River, principal tributary of the Benue River, northeastern Nigeria. It rises in numerous branches on the eastern slopes of the Jos Plateau (including the Lere and Maijuju rivers) and flows onto the plains of the Gongola Basin, where it takes a northeasterly route. It then runs past Nafada before abruptly turning to the south.
