Ojuelegba is in Lagos. Ojuelegba is a suburb in Surulere local government area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria. The town is known for its crowded setting as depicted in Fela's 1975 Confusion album, Ojuelegba is regarded as one of the busiest places in Lagos.

Understand[edit]

Ojuelegba is one of the key transport modes of Lagos, connecting the city's Mainland with the Island. It also serves as a connecting point for people who commute the three surrounding districts of Yaba, Mushin and Surulere. Life in Ojuelegba has been depicted in several musical works, including Fela's Confusion album, Wizkid's "Ojuelegba" single and Oritse Femi's "Double Wahala" single.

In the 1980s and 90s, Ojuelegba was known for its boisterous night life, connecting revelers to Fela Kuti's Moshalashi Shrine on Agege Motor Road and to the redlight district starting in Ayilara street through to parts of Clegg Street.

Get in[edit]

You can get a bus to Ojuelegba from any bus-stop in Lagos State. It is a landmark area in Lagos.

  • By bus. You can get in by bus from any area of the major Bus Terminus in Lagos to Ojuelegba.
  • Rented car. If you are the type that desires comfort and luxury and wants to save yourself from the "Lasgidi" style, you can get uber, bolt or Taxify to get into Ojuelegba. But if you want to have a true experience of the Lagos spirit then a public bus will be your best bet.
  • By bike. Although a ban was imposed by the Lagos state government on motorcycles plying major roads, one can still get bike rides to most inner cities of Lagos.
