The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games were held in Paris, France from July 26 to August 11, 2024. They were followed by the 2024 Summer Paralympics from August 28 to September 8 2024.

Paris hosted the majority of the 2024 games. Six other French cities jointly hosted the football matches with Paris: Marseille, Lyon, Nantes, Nice, Bordeaux and Saint-Étienne. Lille hosted some of the basketball and handball games while Marseille also hosted the sailing events. The shooting events took place in Châteauroux while the surfing events were held on the other side of the world in the French Overseas Territory of French Polynesia on the island of Tahiti.

The opening ceremony of the able-bodied Games, being a boat parade, took place along the Seine from Pont d'Austerlitz to Pont d'Iéna at the Eiffel Tower.
